Sangamon Arrest Facts Within 72 Hours
Illinois FOIA at 5 ILCS 140/2.15 requires specified chronological arrest information to be disclosed as soon as practical and no later than 72 hours after an arrest. The rule does not turn every investigative file into an open document. Active-investigation details, juvenile information, private identifiers, medical data, victim-sensitive facts, and other exempt material may still be withheld or redacted.
